Embroidered and perforated polo shirt – production details: threads and weaving

This shamrock shaped experimental fabric was made near Varese, in the Italian region Lombardy. The weavers used an embroidery machine on a cotton core instead of the usual nylon and polyester core, a choice that makes this garment difficult to reproduce, delicate and precious. The hemp thread was weaved around the core producing the structure and weight of the fabric. The knitted details are made in cotton chenille.

The embroidery design was conceived by Prototipo Studio’s art department: a stylized shamrock that may resemble an enlarged Y, a vaguely retro style inspired by some 1920s graphics. The wide openwork produces a sheer garment.

Cotton polo shirt made with openwork fabric – production details

The transparent effect of this polo was tailored and sewn sartorially on the embroidery used as fabric. The seams have been reinforced with double stitching. The garment is delicate. The collar, cuffs and bottom are made of knitted cotton chenille on a 1:1 rib base. This cotton polo was conceived and produced as a limited series of two. This is the second and last item available.
