Hemp knitwear t-shirt, Garter stitch – production details, yarns, fabrics

The knitwear features asymmetrical floating threads. The threads are arranged over the entire surface, elasticizing it mechanically, without any synthetic and stretch fiber support. The hemp yarn texture makes this knitwear a structured garment.

Traditional and classic T-shirt model features a fitted sleeve at the arm, and a volumetric, thick, round neck, edged with 1:1 rib. The rib recurs on the bottom of the garment.

Prototipo Studio: hemp knitwear and water washing

Hemp should be washed in water. Water restores the fiber’s backbone and texture, and improves its strength. Even more so in these knitted garments: having processed only natural fibers, in a daily use, the knit will tend to soften on the body. Water-washing will bring back the garment’s full shape and strength. Using cold water, without spinning, is a recommendation – the same treat you may have for a wool garment. Flat drying is also recommended.

Prototipo Studio: the natural colors and pigments

Prototipo Studio selected two main colors for the entire studio collection: the first one is a mud green, the second one is anthracite gray. The green comes from a natural pigment extracted from licorice root found in Southern Italy, Calabria. The anthracite gray variant comes from vegetable charcoal. The selected vegetable dyes are absorbed by the hemp fibers in an ever-changing way, therefore giving uniqueness to each piece.
